The study, published today in theJournal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolismand published in theCirculationin February, was designed to test the effect of Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, on high blood pressure and the risk of heart attacks and strokes in patients with high blood pressure.
"This is a novel drug that has been around for over a decade," Beall said. "This study has great implications for the way doctors work in the field of cardiology."
